さあて、いよいよ「テレ・サンターナ追悼」を締めてみよう。
テレ・サンターナが90年にサンパウロFCの監督に就任したとき、クラブは州選手権で2部落ちしたばかりの憂い目にあった。テレ自身も、低迷したビッグクラブの指揮を執るリスクにためらいを隠せなかったらしい。
チームの再建のために全権を任せてくれるというフロントの熱意にしぶしぶ3ヶ月の試験期間を設けて承諾したらしい。決め手となったのは、クラブが郊外に有する広々としたトレーニング・センター（CT）だったらしい。テレは契約日の早朝、トレーニング用のグランドに行き、芝生を触りながら、その状態を確認していたという。
「このクラブで何ができるだろう。これまで、やったきたを超えるようなことができるだろうか。そうだな、ここにいる選手全ての能力を最高のレベルに押し上げることができれば面白いな」。ひょっとして、こんなことを彼は考えていたのかもしれない。それから、なんとテレはこのCTの宿舎を寝床にし、24時間チーム育成に勤しんだらしい。
このころサンパウロFCには、80年代後半からのベースが残っていたが、それでも多くのベテラン選手たちがクラブを去っていった時期にあった。CBダリオ・ペレイラ、中盤の要シーラス、日本でもお馴染みFWのカレッカ、それにローマから移籍した我がアイドル、ファウカンなど。
そもそもサンパウロFCというクラブは80年代から、革新的といえるほど安定的なチーム運営を打ち立てていた。「タイトルが獲れようが、獲れまいが、チームベースは決して解体しない」という、毎年スタメンがガラッと変ってしまう当時のブラジルのクラブ事情では珍しい運営の仕方であった。そんなクラブの方針もテレの意に沿ったのだろう。
チームの中心的選手だったMFライー、MFレオナルド、CBロナウドン、CBヒカルド・ホッシャ、FWミューレルに加え、下部組織からカフー、ゼッチ、マセード、エリベウトンなどを昇格させた。90年10月に就任してから、翌年前半、さっそくサンパウロ州選手権を優勝、同年のブラジル選手権も優勝。

92年には、中盤に大ベテランのトニーニョ・セレーゾ、FWのパリーニャなどを補強し、南米クラブ選手権リベルタドーレス杯を優勝。年末のトヨタ・カップではクライフ率いる黄金時代のバルセロナにも勝利。
?ライーのFKで勝負が決まる?
試合後、敗将クライフはこういった-「どうせ車に轢かれるなら、フェラーリにハネられた方がいいさ」、彼らしいかっこいい賛辞だ。

翌年の93年には、またしてもリベルタドーレス杯を優勝。トヨタ・カップでは、カペッロ率いるミランに勝利。たった2年で名実ともに世界最強と呼ばれた。

94年には、再度来日しレコパ優勝（リベルタドーレス杯勝者とリベルタドーレス・ウィナーズ杯勝者の対決、いまはもうない）、テレ・サンターナはたった3年で、クラブ・レベルで手が届くすべてのタイトルを獲得し、「タイトルとは無縁」というレッテルを払拭した。
?復活の道のりは長かった?
やがて、このスーパーサンパウロを打ち負かすことになったのが、パルメイラス率いる新鋭ヴァンデルレイ・ルシェンブルゴだったことも、今となっては興味深い。
サンパウロFC時代のテレ・サンターナの逸話は限りなくある。毎日、誰よりも早くグランドに行き、芝生のコンディションを確認したという。そして、その日のトレーニング・メニューをこなしたあとも、一部の選手とともにグランドに残り、彼らに個人レッスンを施したという。
この個人レッスンはあまりにも有名である。たとえば、中盤の選手としてデビューしたカフーを見て、テレは「君の資質なら、素晴らしい右SBになれる」といって、毎日、カフーに居残りをさせてクロスボールの入れ方の手ほどきをしたという。その結果について、いまや世界中が知っている。
足のここに当てろとか、通常、チームの監督がやらないような、細かい手ほどきをしたらしい。あっしも実はデビュー時のジュニーニョ・パウリスタがテレにシュートの仕方を教わっているのを生で見たことがある。それはまるで、プロというハイレベルな世界のことではなく、父親が幼い子にサッカーを教えているような光景だった。足のどの箇所でトラップして、どの箇所でシュートすればいいのか、自らひざまずきジュニーニョの足を手にとって「足のここじゃない、ここに当てるんだ」とやっていた。方やサッカー史に残る大監督、方や数年後セレソンの10番を競うことになる中学生の体型をしたプレーヤー。沈む太陽を背に、二人のシルエットが休むことなく躍動していたことに、感動した。
選手の才能を見抜くだけではなく、選手自身が知らなかった能力までをも引き出せた、と彼の指導を受けた選手たちは口を揃えて言う。テレの隠れたチューニングが選手たちに施されてからというもの、ライーのロングシュートや、ミューレルのクロスの精度など、チームの技術が飛躍的に安定した。
94年W杯でなぜ、当時最高のミッドフィルダーとされていたライーが本領を発揮できなかったのか、人々はいまでも不思議に思っている。それは、単純な話、テレ・サンターナのもとでの悠々とプレーしていたクラッキの残像が人々の脳裏あったからではないだろうか。そのギャップに一番驚いたのは、当時の代表監督をつとめたパヘイラ自身ではなかっただろうか。彼には、ライーという特異な才能に“創造の自由”を与えてやる器量はまだなかったといいたい。次のドイツW杯でパヘイラ自身、タレント集団を率いてテレ・サンターナの領域に挑戦してほしい。
「11人のクラッキでチームを編成することは、11人の平凡で従順なプレーヤーたちでチームを作るよりも難しい。だから、やりがいがあるんだ」
テレはまた選手達のピッチ外でのふるまいにも気を配ったという。とくに金の使い方のアドバイスをよくしてやったらしい。今はそうでもないらしいが、少し前のブラジル人プレーヤーたちは大金を受け取ると、何も考えずに使い切ってしまうか、または上手い話にそそのかされて金をだまし取られることが殆どだったという。
トヨタ・カップでも名を馳せたFWパリーニャとテレの確執は有名で、テレの故郷ミナス州出身のパリーニャを我が子のように可愛いがっていたテレだが、パリーニャの浪費癖が試合でのパフォーマンスに影響していると見るや、きつく叱った。あげく、二人は決別してしまった。
テレがなぜ、すべてのサポーターから尊敬されたのか、次の言葉をからもわかるかもしれない：
「私はオールド・スタイルの人間なんだ。ゲスな選手は、どんなに上手くても私のチームには入れないよ」
「もし、ウチのプレーヤーが相手を後ろからタックルしようものなら、審判はレッドカードを出す必要はない、私がその前に交代させるから」
「フィジカル・サッカーがそんなにいいなら、港の荷揚げ労働者を11人雇えばいいじゃないか」
「サッカーが好きなんだ。空き地の草サッカーでも見にいくよ」

82年のW杯当時はまだこの世に性を授かってすらなかった私ですが…
テレ・サンターナの残したモノは実績以上に素晴らしいモノばかりです。
パレイラ監督にはW杯でそれをぜひ実践して欲しいですね。

いやどうも。微かな記録が残っているウチに、書こうと思いました。
この前のリーガでのバルサ×レアル、ＣＬのバルサ×ミランでサンパウロＦＣ経験者の多かったこと。
全員テレ・サンターナが愛情を込めて完成させたトレーニング・センター（『バーサス』今月号に紹介されています）を通った選手たちだな、と考えてしまいます。
ちょうどワールドカップイヤーで８２年ワールドカップのことがたまにＮＨＫでやっていますけ当時のブラジルのサッカーは優雅としかいいようがないですね。
でも現代でこういうサッカーはご法度になりつつありますよね（特に欧州）
ＣＬの準決勝でのアーセナルなんて主な例だと思います。
人材はいるのにもったいないなと。
８２年の特集を見た後だけに全てが見劣りし、凄く寂しいです。

CLもベスト４になると、どこも金縛りにあったような内容になりますね。もう、ここはバルサの創造性に期待するしかありません。

アーセナルービジャレアルではただ引いているだけの愕然とする内容でした。
中盤で対抗できないから引くのではなく、ただベンゲル監督が恐いから自軍に引き篭ってしまう・・・。
イタリアのような明確な意図があればまだ良かったのですが、本当に引いているだけで簡単にＰＡに入られてしまう。
顔ぶれを観てみると物凄く情けない試合でした。
＞82年Ｗ杯セレソンの試合もう一度フルで観れないかあ?。アルゼンチン戦なんか、パサレラ、アルディレス、マラドーナ、ディアス、ケンペスと、みんないたのに。
１９９８年フランス大会に日本が初出場した時はＮＨＫも浮かれていて８６年の決勝と準決勝、９０年と９４年の有名な８試合をほぼ１試合まるまる流してくれました。
あの時はスペインリーグもあったりして良い時代だったなと（汗）
ほんと、アーセナル×ビジャレアルの2試合は、それぞれが交互にカメさん戦法で凌ぎましたね。
アウェーの難しさを差し引いても、やはり、やり過ぎ。
でもね、昨年のサンパウロFC×リバプールでも、後半のサンパウロＦＣの過度の引き方に不満を持ちました（まあ、守る技術は凄いなと思いましたが）。これは、トーナメント方式における世界的なトレンドですよ。由々しき問題っすよ。
04年リベルタ杯のオンセ・カルダスとか、04年ユーロのギリシャとか、ああいうチームが続けて出てきて、悪影響を及ぼす時期にいるのかも。
過去のＷ杯の試合、なんやかんや言っても、NHKさんが一番アーカイブ持ってますから、ここはドバッと大放出してほしいもんですなあ。

アルコルタやナダルのような無骨な選手も起用されていました。

現在バルサのカンテラ出身で一番輝いているのがアルゼンチン人のメッシだと言うのが皮肉だなと。
ヨーロッパの列強は確実に層が薄くなってサッカーへの情熱を失いつつあるのが心配です（ドイツは持ち直しましたけど）

やっぱバルサですか、デ・ラ・ペーニャいまも良いですね、“キレ”てるし。
（あっしは、ベベート時代のデポルを観てないので、あれを見たかった）
そうかあ、カンテラ出身者の統計とっていけば、名門クラブもズタズタですな。しかし、メッシは別格ですからね。（アグエロも来季はアトレチコですか）
それでも、ヨーロッパのビッグクラブは好きに買い物できて羨ましいですよ。ブラジル国内はずいぶんと寂しいですから。
仰るとおり、ヨーロッパがこうだと、品薄状態は益々、慢性的になるのでは。

その分Ｕ?２０世界選手権やＵ?１７世界選手権に選ばれたメンバーはその時点で試合に出ている選手が多いそうですね。
３年程前にＷＳと言う雑誌にロビーニやヂエゴ（ポルト）が不参加になった大会の特集がされていました。
『ＣＢＦでワールドカップ予選メンバー発表よりもＵ?２０ブラジル代表メンバー発表が記者達に注目された』という記事でした。
記事によるとこんな事は今まで無かった事で゛Ｗ杯予選に召集される７名よりもＵ?２０に召集される１８名の穴の方が大きい”からだと。
当時ブラジルサッカーにそれほど感心の無かった（と言うより見る機会が少なかった）自分は「いくらなんでも言い過ぎだろう」と思ったのですが、興味が湧いてきて調べてみるとロビーニョ、ヂエゴ（サントス）、ウェンデル（クルゼイロ）、ヴァグネル・ラヴ（パルメイラス）という選手がいないんだということが分かり、１?５で大敗してショックを受けてから゛さらに”興味を持つようになりました（笑）
今では各年代の大会のたびに「どれ位゛選ばれるべき”と思われている選手が抜けているのだろう？」とそればかり気になる始末。
きっと人材が多いブラジルの方々はこういう考えはしないんでしょうね。
最近は特に若い選手が気になってしょうがない・・（汗）
’７０ブラジルの魅力でサッカーの虜になったサッカー狂中年です。いつも読ませていただいております。下記他の方の板に書いたそのままで申し訳ありませんが、’８２は残念ながらサッカーにとってアンビバレントな大会だったと思います。
’８２は「窓」が大きく開いた大会でした。民生用にビデオが普及した時期なのです。何度も友人の家に押しかけ観まくりました。でも、毎日湯水のごとくゲームが放映される現在と比べれば、すべてが濃密な時代でした。
伯伊戦のもたらしたものは、リアクションサッカーの禁断の味を世界中が味わい、その毒にやられたことです。
あのときの伯ＣＦセルジーニョは今の日本のどのＦＷより頼りなく、何で使われたのか？（若きカレッカは負傷だったと思うが）、ＬＷのエデルの役割がＦＫ以外なんだったのか？、今だわかりません。

確かに、Ｕｰ20レベルの選手の大半はトップチーム入りしてますね。
それに、昨年ポルトに移籍したアンデルソンとか、この年代でもう別格なら、ヨーロッパに行ってしまってるし。まあ、アルゼンチンのメッシがいま最も注目を集めていますが。
なんやかんやいっても、U-20はともかく、オリンピック代表世代のU22とか、U23になると、A代表入りしてもおかしくない“エリート選手”ばかりですよね。
でも、2004年の五輪予選チームは20歳そこそこのホビーニョ、ジエゴ、ダニエウ・カルバーリョらを起用して、随分リスクを背負ったな、と。カカやアドリアーノも出れなかったし。
2003年の若き全国覇者サントス・チームをベースしたわけなんですが。でも、アテネの決勝戦、アルゼンチンとパラグァイでしたから、このときの南米予選のレベルの高さが証明されたようなもんです。
あのときのアルゼンチンの強さは異常だった。イタリア（たぶん準決勝）を子供扱いしてましたね。
ブラジルについて思うかことは、先のU17世界選手権などでは、ブラジルの選手は、他国の選手と比べてずいぶん戦術的に未熟だなあ、と思うのです。テクニックは抜群だけど。これは、批判じゃなくて、「伸びしろ」があるという意味で捉えられるかな。
だから、選手として成熟したとき、ちょうどＡ代表世代にウジャウジャ選抜候補が出てくるのじゃないかと思います。ほんと、呼ばれない選手だけで、セレソンがあと2，3個作れちゃいますからね。

名言ですね。あの82年のイタリア戦は“サッカー歴史家”にとって、70年Ｗ杯の教訓だったとまで言われてますし。「ブラジル相手に、テクニックで勝負しては分が悪い、組織的に止めなくてはならない」という概念。
74年大会以降、ブラジルも含め、どのチームもゴリラのような体型の選手が増えたのも、その傾向のようですよね。
それで、82年大会、テレ・サンターナはなんとしも才能重視の代表を作り直そうとし、また、協会がテレを呼んだこと自体、74年、78年の失敗を挽回しようと、ブラジル・サッカーの良さを強調できるチームを目指したようです。なんといっても、世論が黙っていなかった。70年にあれだけ圧倒的に勝ってしまったため、後のスタイルが狂ってしまったという人は多いようです。
それで、セルジーニョとエーデルの件ですが、たしかにMarioさんの仰るとおり、大会後の二人の評判は芳しくなかったようです。
でも、あっし的には、テレは手もとにある最高のメンツを呼んだと思います。エーデル、セルジーニョに関しても所属クラブでは間違いなく、エース級でした。
初戦ロシア戦の決勝ゴールとなったエーデルのあのロング・シューツなどは、今でも脳裏から離れません。
ご存じのとおりかと思いますが、82年のセレソンは歴代チームのなかでも最もポジション・チェンジが多いと言われましたが、そんななか、エーデルは左サイドで香車、セルジーニョはトップでポスト役と固定されていたことも、影響したかも。
あの黄金カルテット＋ジューニオル、レアンドロの輝きと比べれば、たしかに他の選手達は色褪せてしまいましたね。
しかし、あのイタリア戦でＡ級戦犯に吊るし上げられた同郷人トニーニョ・セレーゾを、テレ・サンターナ自ら作り上げたサンパウロＦＣの中盤底の要に呼び、92年、93年と、クラブ世界一に輝いたのも、いま考えると、何か感動的なものがありますね。

ブラジルは若年層で圧倒的に予選に強い印象があったので凄く驚いた思い出があります。
雑誌ではロビーニョとヂエゴが大きく扱われていましたが彼らはちゃんと結果を残したそうですね。
アドリアーノなど『選ばれるべき選手』が選出されなかったのが問題視されてますけど、管理人さんがおっしゃるように南米のレベルが高かったということなんでしょうね。
予選のメンバーを見ても若いですけどマイコン（現モナコ）、アレックス（現ＰＳＶ）、ロッケンバック（スポルティング）、マクスウェル（アヤックス）などトップの代表に入った選手がいました。
予選敗退はレベルに比例しない枠の狭さと少しの運なのかなと。

ああ、これは凄く感じますね。
特にＤＦは個人個人はテクニックあるけどかなり大雑把な印象。
ダイジェストだけですけどザンビアに１?３で負けた試合では『個に自信があるからこそ穴が出来やすいのかなぁ』なんて。
あと聞いて見たかったんですけど２００７年のワールドユースで「この選手は絶対出てくる」と思われる選手はいますか？
前述されているアンデルソンがグレミオで試合に出ていたのは知っていますけどまだまだ８７年生まれ以降の選手の情報が無いんですよね。
是非何人か知っておられれば情報お願いします。

ブラジルに勝つということは、他の南米諸国にとって「仕事の方向性が正しい」という証明ですから。
それまで、波に乗れていなかったチームがいきなり復活しますからね。82年Ｗ杯のイタリアのように。
アルゼンチンはともかく（ビエルサの手腕）、パラグァイは自信たっぷりで五輪に望みましたね。日本代表とあたるとき、友達に「パラグァイ圧勝」と言ったら、信じてくれませんでしたが。
しかし、ブラジル国内では「最大級の恥」として非難ゴウゴウでした。監督はもちろん、ホビーニョやジエゴも「遊びすぎ」のレッテルを貼られて、いまでも、それを払拭できていません。
ＤＦはとくに経験だから、成熟するのに時間かかりますよね。でも、アレックス（ＰＳＶ）とルイゾン（ベンフィカ）の二人はいずれ、セレソンのレギュラーになりそうですね。

誰でしょうかね、でも、各クラブのコーチとかは分かるらしいですね、「こいつは代表クラスだ」って。それも、地方のクラブ・レベルで。
あっしは、大して見てないのですが、昨年のＵ17チームがベースとなるとすれば、たとえば、すでにプロ入りしている、フルミネンセのアロウカとサンパウロＦＣのデニウソン（あの人と同名です）。二人ともボランチ。
ＦＷでは、フルミネンセで昨年デビューした18歳のレニーという選手が良いらしいですね。それに、ここでも紹介した「アシカ・ドリブル」のケルロンとか。フラメンゴにも、ブルーノ・メゼンガという卵がいるらしいですが、まだトップチームのベンチ入りもしてません。
正直いって、アルゼンチンのように、メッシとアグエロといったはっきりとした注目株は居ないようですね。逆に、どんなが出てくるか楽しみです。

若手って話で反応したんですけど、ブラジルって16歳ぐらいからもうプロって人多いんですよね。
それから経験積ませる為にどっかに貸し出して、20近くになったら戻すらしいですよ。
ちなみに自分も今の若手の注目株は言うとおりフルミネンセのレニーだと思いますよ。
全くブラジルってどんどん新星が出てきますよね。

頭でリフティングしながらドリブルするのは知っていますけどその他の能力も高いんでしょうね。

日本では２年目の１９歳の選手２名が愛媛ＦＣというチームに貸し出されてちょっとした話題になりました。

アルゼンチンでは、どう受け止められてるんでしょうかね。「アイ・カランバ！」ハハハ
16歳でプロ契約って、凄いですね。どれだけ、有望なんだろう、って思ったりしますけど、でも、実は将来は何も保証されてないのが、プロの世界ですよね。
レニーの試合、少なからず観ましたが、ドリブルはもちろん、シュートが上手いですよね。どう育つのか楽しみです。フルミネンセからは良い新世代が輩出されてるようですね。
今さっき興味が湧いて久しぶりに過去の名勝負のワールドカップ特集のビデオを見返してみたんですが管理人さんが上記されたことに納得です。
７４年当時のＤＦの選手は細いですけどエレガントで本当に「守備が上手い」
そして全体にいえますけど柔軟性が素晴らしいですね。
それが観るものにも爽快感みたいなものを感じさせるのかも知れないです。
当時のブラジル国内にはペレだけじゃなくこれほどのテクニシャンが大勢いたんですね。
１０代?２０代前半で移籍してしまうから経験を受け継ぐ前に欧州スタイルにオーガナイズされる。
これではワクワクする選手が少なくなるのも当然だと思います。
欧州サッカーで東欧で急速にサッカーの人気が落ちつつあるのも地元のスターが簡単に引き抜かれてレベルが落ちたり、それによって経験を受け継がせる選手がいなくなった事が原因なんでしょうね。
往年の盟主ボニェクやラトーなどのプレーを見ていると、急速なビジネス化はネガティブな面しか思いつかなくなりました（汗）
